Direct heaters compared – Convection vs. infrared heaters!

Heating

There you are pleased as Punch about the mild winter and then it turns freezing cold after all. Not a problem when you have additional electric heating at home to raise the room temperature a bit. With our convection and infrared heaters Trotec has two heating systems on offer and your individual circumstances will determine which one is the most suitable for you. Therefore, here we offer you a tough but fair comparison of both of our systems!

What both heating systems have in common: Both our convection heaters, the TCH 20 E and the TCH 22 E, as well as our infrared heaters TIH 500 S and TIH 700 S have two major advantages – their low purchase price and their high level of versatility. The appliances don’t need any expensive water pipes installed to be used. This also means that heat loss associated with supplying warm water does not occur. Because you only need a connection to a power supply both of our heating systems are ideal to partially top-up heating in single rooms. Of course, you should keep the cost of electricity in mind and use convection and infrared heaters sparingly.

With convection heaters don’t forget warm air cooling

Purchasing one of our convection heaters, for instance, is a good idea if you want to heat your rooms quickly  and at short notice. Because the air in the room is quickly warmed up by theconvectors, but also cools down quickly again when the heater is turned off, the temperature control on the convection heaters TCH 20 E and TCH 22 E can be continuously set to the desired heat output and to control the hygrostat. As soon as the pre-set temperature is reached, the energy efficient appliances automatically switch themselves off – only switching back on again when the temperature drops. The air can be heated easily, silently, and odourlessly with three heat settings: 750 W, 1250 W and 2000 W.

Thanks to the thermal control, you can also use the heaters as frost guards. Using a thermostat, the heater is then automatically activated, to keep rooms free from frost or to avoid excessive drops in temperature. Both TCH convection heaters are easy to transport from one room to another thanks to their light-weight design and their handles specially designed for carrying. The TCH 22 E has an additional turbo-fan to speed up the air circulation – ideal for quickly heating cool rooms or for ventilation. Moreover, it is equipped with a timer, so that you can programme individual heating durations, from 15 minutes to 24 hours.

Infrared heaters to avoid dry air

Infrared heaters such as the TIH 500 S and the TIH 700 S directly create heat using infrared radiation, using the same natural principle as the sun, this means that heating is efficient and that there is no convective loss. This heating principle also means that the infrared heating consumes less electricity than convection heaters. Furthermore, infrared radiation heat gives off the same feeling of warmth but at a lower air temperature. In conjunction with the reduced air circulation, this effect usually leads to a more comfortable indoor climate: with air that is less dry and with less dust pollution.

Another great advantage: it gives out heat almost immediately after switch-on. As occasional additional heating our slim infrared heating panels create heat directly there where you need it: to provide previously unheated rooms with an effective heat source or as occasional additional heating in living spaces. So that rooms can be used quickly and comfortably, despite having little or no heating. For this reason infrared heating panels such as the TIH 500 S and the TIH 700 S are also a popular professional solution. The heating panels are just as well suited for use in gastronomy, for heating workplaces and quickly drying wall surfaces at construction or renovation sites.

Convection or infrared – Trotec delivers both and both are great value!
