Reliable protection against aerosols and viruses in the room air.

There are good reasons to look to the future with optimism and confidence, despite the ongoing Corona pandemic. This is because we are not defenceless at the mercy of disease-causing viruses like the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The mobile TAC V+ air purifier quickly and effectively reduces airborne virus contamination in closed rooms – even when the windows are closed and there is no ventilation system. The high protective effect against what are known as aerosols, which according to unanimous expert opinion are mainly responsible for the spread of the coronavirus, has been scientifically confirmed by a study at the Bundeswehr University Munich. For the first time, it has been scientifically proven using the latest laser measurement technology that the HEPA air cleaning technology used in the TAC V+ can reduce the risk of infection in enclosed spaces to almost zero.

Scientifically proven reduction of the indirect risk of infection

The TAC V+ air purifier filters 99.95 percent of all viral aerosols from the air in just a few minutes. An aerosol is a mixture of air and liquid components that is produced in the lungs and released into the room mainly when breathing and speaking. While larger droplets sink to the ground after only about 1.5 meters due to their weight (hence the social distancing rule of 1.5 m), aerosol particles float in the room for several hours if there is insufficient ventilation – and are inhaled.

Airborne viruses are separated and killed

To prevent a concentration of viruses in the filter and a renewed release of the separated pathogens, the TAC V+ uses a new type of H14 Heat Resistant HEPA® Filter (certified according to EN 1822). This special filter developed by Trotec is regularly heated to 100 °C to reliably kill viruses and germs. Only this can prevent infectious viruses from the filter from being re-released into the air. Thermal decontamination of the filter ensures that the device itself does not become a “virus spinner”.

Halving of the aerosol concentration in a few minutes

The study carried out under the direction of Prof. Christian Kähler proves that a Trotec TAC V+ air purifier can halve the aerosol concentration in an 80 m² room within 6 minutes. In smaller rooms, it can be halved in only 3 minutes. The research results of the study “Can mobile air purifiers effectively reduce an indirect risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection by aerosols?” are unequivocal:

“If you run this system continuously, it will be impossible for an infectious aerosol concentration to build up in the room”.

HEPA high performance filter technology guarantees high volume of clean air

In contrast to commercially available air purifiers, which were generally sold for the filtration of dust, pollen or odours from the air due to their low filter classes (< E10 – E12) and air capacities (< 500 m3), the development of the TAC V+ air purifier has been focused on the rapid removal of infectious aerosol mixtures. Time is the most important factor in reducing the indirect risk of infection. In order to dilute infectious aerosol mixtures directly at the place of their origin and to filter off viral aerosol particles within a few minutes, the TAC V+ air purifier generates a hitherto unrivalled volume of clean air and blasting power to create optimised air flow in the room.

Highest air change rate in mobile air purification

The air circulation generated by the TAC V+ air purifier ensures that all room air is cleaned in the HEPA filter at least six times per hour, even in large rooms. According to the scientific evaluation of the necessary air changes from the Bundeswehr University Munich, at least 6 air changes are required for normal occupancy in rooms. If required, the TAC V+ air purifier offers sufficient performance reserves for higher air change rates as well, with its max. clean air capacity of 2,100 m³, of which up to 1,200 m³ is filtered through the H14 filter and up to 1,800 m³ through the H13 filter.

The air filtration concept behind the TAC V+ high-performance air purifier is based on two pillars:

High air capacity (air exchange up to 20 times per hour) 

The virus-contaminated air is continuously diluted with virus-filtered clean air from the HEPA filters. For this purpose, the device has a clean air capacity that is unmatched in mobile air purifiers, enabling an air exchange rate of up to 20 times per hour. The clean air released by the TAC V+ air purifier is discharged vertically towards the ceiling so that people do not find it unpleasant.

High filter performance (99.995 % separation efficiency) 

Airborne viruses and bacteria are first separated in a novel, heat-resistant HEPA particulate filter and then killed cyclically by thermal decontamination. The thermal filter decontamination has been proven to reduce the pressure loss of the integrated H14 Heat Resistant HEPA® Filter (certified according to EN 1822), and thus ensures a constantly high filter performance. This special filter developed exclusively by Trotec is distinguished by a separation efficiency of 99.995 percent. Even permanently high aerosol concentrations in the room air did not lead to a reduction in filter performance. Thanks to these features, H14 high-performance filters are even used to produce clean air in operating theatres and in similar hygiene-sensitive areas.

A safe investment in health and productivity

The TAC V+ high-performance air purifier enables a safe and uncomplicated return to normality in daily interaction – despite corona. The high performance air purifier can effectively protect against aerogenic infection with influenza viruses during the annually recurring waves of influenza too. The comparatively low investment costs are offset by the advantages of having the highest possible protection against infection.
