Coronavirus: Temporary hospitals help resolve with bed shortages and TAC air purifiers help clean contaminated air

Be prepared for the worst – and hope for the best: Many towns and districts are facing the corona crisis in the spirit of this motto. The most recent example for this prudent treatment is the Verden district in Northern Germany. Before the end of March, the district crisis management team began, in coordination with the Aller-Weser Clinic (AWK), to prepare for a possible further increase in cases. Consequently, within a few days, the district council set up a temporary hospital in a container village in its car park.

The temporary hospital in the container village at the Verden district council is ready-to-use and is equipped for the admission of Covid-19 patients with a total of 65 beds for medical and nursing care. But the administration continues to think ahead and take precautions: Around 325 beds have been constructed in the district’s sports halls and are available as a further reserve. District Administrator Peter Bohlmann has been quoted in the local newspaper, the Weser-Kurier: “Although we hope that it isn’t the case, should there be bed shortages in the two buildings of the Aller-Weser Clinic in Verden and Achim, we will be able to start operating the first hospital facility at short notice”.

In general, the use of an air purifier such as the professional TAC air purifier from Trotec is recommended when treating Covid-19 patients in temporary hospitals, such as in sports halls. These use negative pressure and special filters to prevent contaminated air from escaping to the outside. Depending on the performance class, the professional air purifiers are designed for the flexible maintenance of negative pressure in rooms of different sizes. They impress with the use of high-performance class H14 filters for effective virus filtering. It’s unlikely that there exists a more effective elimination of almost all risk of infection than what can be achieved with our TAC air purifiers combined with H14 filters.

Effective protection of citizens, staff and caregivers

The use of a TAC air purifier with H14 HEPA filter reduces the health risk of contracting a pathogen from the air in the room to almost zero. To be precise, to 0.005% transmittance with a simultaneous filter efficiency of 99.995% for the H14-HEPA high efficiency filter. In practice, this means that: Out of 100,000 microparticles suspended in the air, a TAC air purifier with H14 filtration effectively filters out 99,995 particles! Because to these first-class filter properties, H14 high-performance filters are used, for example, for clean air production in operating theatres and in other equally hygiene-sensitive areas.
